An exhibition on tea culture prevailing in the Song dynasty, jointly organized by the China National Tea Museum and Xinchang Museum, opened at the latter’s venue.

Tea is a beverage that has accompanied the Chinese for thousands of years. In the Song dynasty, tea was a part of life elegance. The exhibition features 146 exhibits regarding tea from the Song times, explaining what tea culture was like in the dynasty. The tea sets in display are diverse in types, exquisite in appearance, and rich in content, allowing visitors to take a glimpse of the elegance of people living thousands of years ago and feel the cultural charm of the Song Dynasty amidst the aroma of tea.

According to the China National Tea Museum, green and yellow were extensively used in the exhibition venue, aiming to deliver a refreshing yet elegant visual effect. At the entrance is a courtyard scene featuring maidens. Rockeries and an ancient Chinese zither are arranged as decorations. Visitors can sit down and play the zither, immersing themselves in tranquility and serenity. At the exit, there is an immersive setting of Song style for visitors to experience tea drinking.

A chief manager of the museum said that the exhibition aims to showcase tea culture popular among literati during the Song dynasty. They also expect it to be a platform where the fine traditional Chinese culture can be carried forward.
