After being ranked as the top domestic destination for natural beauty on Mafengwo during the May Day holiday, Qiandao Lake has once again been recognized as the most sought-after scenic spot on the platform during the recent National Day holiday. The southeastern lake area, in particular, witnessed a surge in visitors, surpassing its previous ten-year record of 7,000 daily tourists. To manage the influx, local officials issued a warning about reaching the maximum visitor capacity.

Not only the main scenic area, but also surrounding attractions like Tianyu Scenic Area, Huamei Resort, Ideal Garden, Beer Town, Tunnel Art Gallery, Changling Terraces, and numerous other scenic spots were teeming with visitors. The Huamei Resort, a cultural tourism complex transformed from the former Asian Games Village, hosted a successful National Day Fun Season. It offered unique performances such as iron fireworks (datiehua) and fire pot performance (huohu), inflatable pools for kids, and sports activities such as street basketball and cycling events. These activities offered visitors a chance to fully experience the charm of the Lake Area beyond the lake itself. The Beer Town hosted beer competitions, doll parades, cultural heritage exhibitions, and a fashion market, while the Tianyu Scenic Area wrapped up the excitement with a rock music festival and thrilling water slides.

According to data from the digital platform of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, Chun’an County, home to Qiandao Lake, reported a record-breaking influx of 507,000 tourists during the National Day holiday—a 35.9% increase year-over-year and a 43.6% increase compared to 2019. The county also saw double-digit growth in overnight stays and traffic volume.
