Shuangjiang, or Frost’s Descent, is one of the 24 solar terms on the Chinese lunar calendar. It is characterized by a sudden drop in temperature and a significant day-night temperature gap. This year, Shuangjiang falls on October 23. Recently, rice and fruits in the Bagua Fields have reached maturity. Kids from local kindergartens and primary schools have celebrated the autumnal bounty with field trips that include digging sweet potatoes, harvesting rice, gathering peanuts, and cutting sugarcane. The joy of harvest is palpable as these young learners experience firsthand the rhythms of farming. This weekend, the Bagua Fields will host an immersive Southern Song Dynasty Farming Culture Festival.
