Track-laying for Hangzhou-Quzhou Railway officially commenced on October 29 with the first 500 meters of ballastless tracks carefully laid on the track bed at Quzhou West Station.
The 130.921 km Hangzhou-Quzhou Railway will connect with the Hangzhou-Huangshan Railway in the north, the Jiujiang-Jingdeshi-Quzhou Railway in the central section, and the Shanghai-Kunming High-speed Railway in the south. The line runs 78.882 kilometers through Quzhou City and 52.039 kilometers through Jiande City. Designed for speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour, it will serve six stations: Jiande, Jiande South, Longyou North, Qujiang (reserved), Quzhou West, and Jiangshan.
The project involves laying 299 kilometers of track, including 256.326 kilometers for the main line. Two track-laying methods are being employed: one using the traditional ballasted system, and the other using a ballastless system. The construction team aims to lay up to 6 kilometers of track per day, targeting project completion by January 2025. Notably, the Jiande-Quzhou section is the first high-speed rail project in China using a “PPP+EPC” model. The general contractor is a consortium led by China Railway Siyuan Survey and Design Group, with the Shanghai Railway Bureau as the construction subcontractor. The project is one of Zhejiang Province’s top ten flagship infrastructure projects. The entire line is slated to be operational by 2025.
The Hangzhou-Quzhou Railway will provide an additional route between Quzhou and Hangzhou, alleviating the burden on the Shanghai-Kunming Railway. It will also bolster the development of Hangzhou West Station, strengthen the integration between Hangzhou and Quzhou, and promote high-quality development and shared prosperity in western Zhejiang Province.
