On December 4, with vehicles heading into the mountains, breaking the tranquility of the mountainous area in the morning, the fifth snow season at Tonglu Shengxianli International Ski Resort officially commenced. This year, Shengxianli once again became the first outdoor ski resort to open in the Yangtze River Delta region.
“We received a total of 78,000 visitors last snow season, and they created a revenue of 26.8 million yuan. There will be a growth of 15% to 20% for this year,” said Lu Yanfeng, Chairman and General Manager of Hangzhou Shengxianli Ice and Snow Sports Development Co., Ltd. On December 22, the ski resort opened one intermediate slope and one beginner’s slope. Amenities to be available include the second beginner’s slope and an upgraded snow play field. The snow season is set to continue until March 10, 2025.
The ski resort remains popular even on workdays. The resort can receive around 600 to 700 visitors per day, while on weekends the total may exceed 2,000. Shengxianli is considered top-class owing to its sustainable business strategy, including facility renovation, better services, and innovative fun programs. It has become one of the most renowned high-mountain ski resorts in the East China region.
This snow season will feature a new theme to highlight the “Xianxia” (immortal knight) theme, offering an immersive experience with a full NPC (non-player character) concept, transforming the entire resort into a fantasy world. Visitors may encounter dashing knights, ethereal maidens, and quirky fairies while skiing down the slopes, selecting equipment in the lobby, or enjoying meals on the second floor. You can also join them. Do your makeup and put on your costume at the Chinese Style Pavilion on the second floor, and ask photographers to capture the moments. During the Spring Festival, the ski resort will host a traditional lion dance show to worship the God of Wealth.
The Ski Resort is one of the man-made attractions invested by Shengxianli, a tour project established by the city’s Tourism Group in response to the call for “assisting Hecun Township in tourism model planning so as to drive up tourism as a leading force of countryside economy”. To date, the Shengxianli project has invested more than 100 million yuan, providing over 120 local jobs in each snow season. Gaoliangting Village, where the ski resort is located, earns over a million yuan every year because of the ski resort. The Tourism Group also helps the village establish a farmers’ market, which enables an increase of annual household income by more than 20,000 yuan. In just five years, the village has had nearly 40 home-stays, including luxury ones such as Hua Luo Li, Xi Jian Guan Shan Zhu, and Ci Jian Zhu Xia.
