The 2025 Tonglu Yangtze River Delta Self-Driving Gala, which officially kicked off on March 29 in Meirong Village, Zhejiang Province, drew over vehicles from across the region of Yangtze River Delta for a journey to explore Tonglu’s idyllic landscapes in spring season.

Some 150 vehicles were gathered to start a venture from March 29 on delightful routes. From horse-riding at the equestrian park to hands-on tea picking in plantations, they immersed themselves in curated spring-themed scenarios - hiking and savoring delicacies, browsing markets, and unwinding in boutique home stays. The event also leveraged aerial photography to showcase Tonglu’s spring from breathtaking perspectives. A concurrent short video competition encouraged travelers to capture the region’s natural beauty, culinary delights, and cultural stories.

Feng Chunhua, president of Jiangsu Self-Driving Tour Association, testified a dominant role of self-driving in China’s tourism market. A probe into the city’s landscape would be a thrill to them. “Tonglu’s picturesque nature and deluxe country lodgings just satisfy our travelers’ needs,” said he. “Through roadshows and discounts, we aim to attract more self-driving enthusiasts to experience Tonglu, a nice place with slow-paced life.”

Tonglu News and Visit Tonglu, two WeChat accounts, once launched a self-driving route solicitation campaign, and had finally collected over thirty recommended routes. They were later reviewed and screened, and the best ten were officially announced to unveil Tonglu’s landscapes, cultural heritage, and springtime entertainments, creating a holistic experiential network catering to all scenarios.

There is one trying to reproduce a lifestyle in “Dwelling in Fuchun Mountains,” which features exciting views, food, and ventures. Another one, named “Visit Home of the She People,” is a 2-day program blending local ethnic customs with natural views. There is also a route labeled “any shot would be like a wallpaper,” featuring a visit to the ancient town, flower fields, and canyon secrets. The ten routes are just like ten keys to the hidden fun of the city.
