It is the April days that fill the city with a vibe of spring. Spring outing, ancestral remembrance, tea ceremony, city show and even more leisure activities gave birth to “village tour,” “mountain crowding,” and “light outing” in this holiday. Nighttime tour also plays a big part. Statistics from Hangzhou Culture, Television and Tourism Bureau show that, during the three days of the Qingming holiday, the city had received a total of 6,668,500 tourists, an increase of 69.2% year on year.

The holiday was a chance to unlock new experiences. In Xixi Wetlands, the “Twelve Flower Goddesses” all dressed in ancient Song-style costumes, slowly approaching on a boat, were in the limelight of the show. The wild was used as a natural stage for parades with tourists. Into night, the grand riverside show “Tonight, and Together in Xixi” was another spectacular for visitors. The tulip show in Taiziwan Park is another great destination, which features 400,000 tulips, daffodils, and grape hyacinths. The first Rapeseed Flower Festival in Jiande’s Xinye Village was quite impressive a program, characterized by the sea of golden flowers enveloping age-old houses and immersive experiences such as “a day in village”. Liangzhu’s field flower fair and Renhe’s peony festival were also popular.

“Mountain crowding” became a buzzword, and villages were packed with tourists. It makes “village tour” popular again, including routes in quest for folk customs, flowers, and old towns.

Hengcun’s Temple Fair was a bustling place for tourists. Jingshan called for a spring tea experience that allowed visitors to chase such a prime of the city. The “Bread and Coffee” show at Yuniaiji in Yuhang District, and the Beiguan Mart on Dadou Road, were brimming with young visitors seeking indigenous culture.

“Music and travel” is a new entertainment available particularly at nighttime. Rock band Imagine Dragons’ LOOM World Tour was premiered at the Olympic Sports Center Stadium on April 4 and 6, attracting nearly 100,000 fans. On April 5, star rapper Yang Hesu also held a solo here. The three shows welcomed a total of nearly 110,000 fans, 65% are from other cities.

Data from OTAs, such as Ctrip, Fliggy, Qunar, and Tongcheng, show the sightseeing traffic of Hangzhou during this holiday increased by 22% year on year, with Shanghai, Beijing, Ningbo, Nanjing, and Suzhou its main source of visitors.
