Parks across the Flower Harbor area are alive with blossoms in such golden March days. One delicate white flower particularly steals the show - the beloved “Snow Spray” now at its peak season.

Known botanically as Spiraea thunbergii, this plant owes its poetic nickname to its snow-like explosion of white blooms. People also call it “snow-white willow” for its slender, drooping branches, or “pearl flower” as its unopened buds glisten like dewdrops.

Sansantai Yunshui is the very site to find “Snow Spray.” One can talk a stroll by Xijing Bridge to find petals fluttering like confetti, or linger near Liushui Bridge where the flowers burst into clusters against moss-covered stones. Equally enchanting is the Wine Park at the popular Quyuan Fenghe, where thickets of “Snow Spray” along the lakeside are in sharp contrast with the crimson leaves of Japanese maples.
